About Me
"This online portfolio is something of an experiment. There is some joy in the finding of an outlet to compile your ideas, achievements, and memories. Unless the internet should die one day, I hope this small bit of virtual space can house the evidence for the existence of a rather quiet but thoughtful individual, who wanted nothing more than to acknowledge the importance of living every second of her life to the best of her abilities."

The name is Cass, code-name "the girapple".
Purely for the sake of creating a website and blog, I thought it'd be fun to have a code-name. Really, where else can you have the freedom of creating ridiculous, superfluous names that bolster your alter-ego other than on the internet? The story of "the girapple" is quite short, as it is also quite newly born. The name first surfaced when I used it in my traveler's blog, which began in July of 2011. I've had this idea in the back of my head for much longer though, as I have, for as long as I can remember, always loved the apple and the giraffe. The former for its crunchy, nutritional goodness, and the latter for its awkward yet fascinating appearance.
I identify myself quite well with both.
Currently, I am a student studying at the University of British Columbia. I am interested in the sciences and the current revolution taking place in the realm of 21st century public education. I am striving to become a future educator that can help pave the way for the new wave of ideals on learning and knowledge.
In my spare time, I enjoy baking, reading, indulging in the more-than-what-should-be-healthy drama watching, writing, drawing, swing dancing, and the occasional 3:00am philosophy discussion with a strange friend or friendly stranger.
